Lakeland High School

Rathdrum, Idaho

This project included three substantial additions and interior remodeling of existing classrooms and the media center. A commons/multipurpose room was created by enclosing a large existing courtyard. An existing classroom on one side of the commons was opened up to create a stage. Four stepped floor levels were created to facilitate seating and provide unobstructed sight lines to the stage. This multipurpose space is used for many functions such as performances, assemblies, lunchroom community events and as a classroom.

The classroom addition includes six classrooms, one computer technology lab, an art classroom and restroom. The addition was constructed with concrete masonry units, E.I.F.S. finish and weathering steel to match the existing school.

The final addition was a two-story concrete tilt-up structure to match the existing gymnasium. This space provided additional locker rooms on the main floor and a wrestling room on the upper floor. The interior remodels consisted of converting a classroom into a life sciences room and doubling the size and function of the existing media area.
